Hackers clone SIM, businessman loses Rs 2 cr ByVallabh Ozark
|On the afternoon of October 3, a Saturday, businessman Sanjay Makhija noticed there was no network on his phone. He was in his office in Khar, where he had never faced any network issues before. Not making much of
it, Makhija finished work early and left for his Bandra-west home, weekend plans with family and friends firmly in place. Around 8.30 in the evening, he noticed there was still no network on his phone. The problem persisted
the next day too. However, sometime around late Sunday afternoon, a new message flashed on his phone. It now said — ‘no SIM card’. Makhija assumed there was some problem with the SIM card and made a mental note
to get in touch with his public sector network operator on Monday. He, of course, had no idea it would be too late by then.
